Javier Ramirez graduated from Perry Meridian High School in 2013, after being an IPA State Finalist in PSCA (2009) PSAA (2010, 2011) and in PSA (2012). While attending the University of Indianapolis, he quickly began to work with high school percussion sections, including Tri-West, Plainfield, Beech Grove, Southport, Perry Meridian and Franklin Central. As a performer, Javier marched tenors at Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps in 2012 and marched tenors at Legacy Indoor Percussion from 2014-2016. He also had the opportunity to teach at Pioneer in 2018 and Legacy Indoor (later Veritas) from 2018-2022. Javier is a performing member of High Octane Entertainment where they serve as the official drumline for the Indiana Pacers, Indiana Fever, and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. He also performs with the Indianapolis Colts Drumline.

In 2018, Javier was hired as Director of Percussion at Perry Meridian, rebuilding the program to be a perennial WGI Indy Regional Finalist (2018, 2019, 2021, 2022) and became a WGI World Finalist in Scholastic A in 2019 in their first trip to WGI World Championships in school history. Outside of the marching arts, Javier has been able to begin a percussion class during the school day that now has over 20 students enrolled, along with a growing studio of private lesson students.

Javier is also active in percussion arrangement and composition, having written and consulted for high school percussion groups over the years including Beech Grove, Danville, Jennings County, LaVille, Perry Meridian, Pike, and Southport. This is Javier’s first position on the IPA Board of Directors.
